As the year draws to a close, Children's Healthcare Canada is reflecting on opportunities to improve experiences and outcomes of healthcare for children and youth in Canada.
From ensuring access to primary care, surgical interventions and mental health supports, to the development of a national strategy to articulate a bold vision for Canada’s kids, it’s going to take a collective effort to measurably improve the health and wellbeing of Canada’s youth.

- WISH #2 | All I want for kids is access to primary care, assigned before birth.
- WISH #3 | All I want for kids is dedicated and protected funding for children’s health systems.
- WISH #4 | All I want for kids is a national children’s strategy, including targets and timelines to improve children’s health outcomes.
- WISH #5 | All I want for kids is a Chief Children’s Health Officer to keep governments accountable for measurable improvements in children’s health outcomes.
- WISH #6 | All I want for kids is cross-ministerial commitments that ensure families are recognized as an essential part of the healthcare workforce, including financial resources and practical supports.
- WISH #7 | All I want for kids is funding earmarked to ensure a robust maternal, child, and youth health research agenda.
- WISH #8 | All I want for kids is publicly accessible child health data, to support funding, planning and delivery of healthcare services.
- WISH #9 | All I want for kids is a health workforce strategy that accounts for the highly specialized professionals who deliver care for children and youth.
- WISH #10 | All I want for kids is timely access to universal screening, early identification, and early intervention for mental health concerns.
- WISH #11 | All I want for kids is timely and coordinated access to teams of specialists to guide the transition from pediatric to adult healthcare services.
